Big Kid Moments

This morning I heard Jack on the monitor at 6. He was fussing a little bit, but kept saying "Buk, Buk!" The way the trend has been working lately, if he wakes up in the middle of the night unhappy, I just need to go in there and re-cover him up. No big wup, he falls right back to sleep. But usually if he wakes up after 5:30, that's all she wrote. The prospect of me going back to sleep is gone because at that point he wants to come "not sleep" in our bed (even thought he promises he'll sleep). So I was hesitant to go into his room because I was not ready to "not sleep." Anywho, his "Buk!" insistance kept getting louder, so I finally went in. It was pitch black and he was sitting up in his crib. I asked him if he wanted a book. He said yes. I gave him the Farmer in the Dell book. Apparently the wrong one, because he then said, "No, llama." So I gave him the Llama book and he happily laid back down, I covered him up, and he entertained himself with his book (pitch black, remember) and slight cat naps for the next 45 minutes. Once he finally did get up and was playing on our bed, he said, "Dess." I thought he was saying "grass" and that he wanted to go outside, but he kept saying, "Dess," and eventually ran out of the room. He came back a minute later with a shirt and a pair of shorts. Turns out he wanted to get dressed. Basically he had a Big Kid morning. Not to fear, however, there was plenty of regressing to 2-yr-old standards throughout the day.
