He tells it like it is
For the eye-fixing-process, Jack now needs to wear a patch for at least an hour a day. Yesterday he had it on in the car and fell asleep he whole time. When we got home I explained to him at length that it didn't count as wearing it when he was asleep and that he needed to keep wearing it. I was fully expecting an outburst, but he simply said, "Okay, Bossy Pants."

I had to mark the date...
Yesterday was the first day Jack said, out of the blue while giving me a hug, "I love you." And I said, "I love you sooo much." And then he said, "I love you so much too."
It makes the twenty time-outs-a-day worth it.

"Uh Oh...Hat Guy..."
Another thing he's been saying lately is (for example), "Did you bring my bike or no?" "Do you like this or no?" "Can I watch TV or no?"
At bedtime now, I tuck him in and then we talk for a few minutes. It's one of my new favorite things. He twirls my hair and we talk about what he did that day. Or he brings up the same story about how he and another little boy were shoving at the playground three days ago because Jack was there first and the other kid wouldn't give him a turn. This story has been brought up each night since the alleged incident. I love our conversations.
And he's still into his little sister. Click here for a recent video of the two of them.

Funny Kid
Jack and I went to the playground today and when he gave me some fresh-baked pizza (aka "mulch"), some of it fell on my shoe. He immediately cleaned it up and then said, "You're all set, Missy."

I'm a Music Guy
We recently found my grampa's old harmonica and Jack has become quite attached to it. He calls it his "harmoncica." The other morning he started playing it and then he said to me, "I'm a music guy." Later when I asked him to pick up his toy measuring tape, he said, "I'm a music guy, not a tape guy." An hour later when I told him we needed to cut his nails, he said, "I'm a music guy, not a dirty guy."
