Pecs like Uncle Jeff

Jack requested (by a series of grunts) that his shirt be removed; then he ran around the house excitedly slapping his chest. For full frontal nudity, click here for a bath video.

A Man and his Dog

Jack's latest obsession is walking Bones. BY HIMSELF. He doesn't like it when I try to hold on to the leash at the same time. Usually Bones ends up walking Jack, although she's pretty good about going slow. Jack has scraped up knees as proof of his "must hold on to the leash no matter what" mentality. Click here to watch a video of the two of them.
Another one of his obsessions is music. He has a Fisher Price boom box (I think that's an eighties term...not sure if the kids today even know what a boom box is, what with all their high-falutin mp3 players and cell phones and crack cocaine and all) that he rocks out to, dances, spins around in circles, etc. The other morning he was on the floor listening to his tunes when I picked him up to put him in his chair for breakfast. He FLIPPED OUT. As soon as I put his boom box on his tray, however, life was good again. Here's a video...

"Yeah?"

That's what Jack says every time he puts his shades on (he needs a little assistance putting them on, or a bit of...frustration...sets in).

Cars in the Rain

This blue car (with a touch of pink) is a new toy of Jack's...it was one of those "I want to get Jack a car that I can push so I go to Toys R Us that day and get him the first one I see even if it is pink" purchases.

Videos

Here are a couple videos of Jack. Nothing too groundbreaking, just fun to see how "busy" he is these days.

Serious business: Football season has officially begun

Shoe Fetish

If he's not wearing them or sucking on them, he's putting them away in closets.

What in the world...? Who put this book here?

This is one of Jack's new favorite hand motions. Usually he does it immediately after he throws something on the ground. He's very innocent.

What if I do...this?

This is the look Jack gives me when he tries some new "trick" that he thinks he probably shouldn't do. It's hilarious. He usually accompanies the look with a slight grin. He's really into climbing on anything and walking up and down (and up and down and up and down and up and down) stairs. Another new thing is when I go in to get him in the morning or after a nap, he doesn't want to come out of his crib for quite a while. He likes to walk around in it, throw Bob out, and then point at him on the floor and grunt until I pick Bob up and give him back. He actually had a back-arching fit this morning when I took him out of his crib. F-U-N. For everyone.
Here's a couple videos of some of Jack's latest tricks:

Chillin like a Villian

Now that he's 15 months old, Jack just needs some time to relaaaaaax. He's really into rocking chairs and couches. Click here to watch a video of him hanging out on the couch.

Wheels in Nashville

Jack and I had a great time in Nashville. As you can see, I had my camera out for a grand total of one hour. In four days. I blame it on my mom. I've grown so accustomed to her being the resident photographer on all vacations, even those she's not on.

The first picture is of Jack pushing John's all-time favorite cart from back when he was a little guy. It was hard for him to let go of the memories, but he generously shared it with his "favorite cousin Jack" (John's words).

And other than Brian's legs (very nice, by the way), I failed to get any shots of Jack with Brian, Kimmy, or Chris. But they were all there. And it was fun.

Lastly, I'd like to apologize to the folks on Southwest flight 1725 from Nashville to Austin. The first 15 minutes involved some writhing, screaming, and a diaper that smelled enough to prompt a flight attendant to offer me a blanket so I could "go ahead and go to the back of the plane to change my son's diaper."

Jack Reminisces About Days Gone By, When He Was 24" Tall

This is the last picture of Jack (or anyone, for that matter) in a cage, I swear.

Jack started waving today and has been walking a lot more. Had to buy more bandaids today for his knees. Still eats like a brown bear with a tape worm.

Bones gets her lampshade off tomorrow.

Jack and I are off to Nashville Tuesday morning for some good times with Cousin John.

As Promised...

Solitary Confinement

Although it appears as though Jack is contemplating a day of wrong choices, he actually took Bones' old crate over as his own personal fort. He crawled in and out of that thing for about 30 minutes today, having a blast.
Bones, on the other hand...is not as pleased with her situation. She had ACL surgery yesterday and needs to be crated for 6 weeks. She gets the collar off in two (I think that's bothering her more than the crate). It's not a fun situation for any of us (except Jack doesn't seem to mind), but she has been limping for months and once she recovers from the surgery she'll be able to run again. I'd say that makes it all worthwhile. I tried to tell her that, but she just stared at me as if she doesn't speak English.
Click here to watch a video of Jack playing in his new fort.
(I'll try to get a picture of Todd in a crate for the next post.)
