Fun, Yet Slightly Annoying, Farm Animal Magnets

Wheels in Nashville

Jack and I had a great time in Nashville. As you can see, I had my camera out for a grand total of one hour. In four days. I blame it on my mom. I've grown so accustomed to her being the resident photographer on all vacations, even those she's not on.

The first picture is of Jack pushing John's all-time favorite cart from back when he was a little guy. It was hard for him to let go of the memories, but he generously shared it with his "favorite cousin Jack" (John's words).

And other than Brian's legs (very nice, by the way), I failed to get any shots of Jack with Brian, Kimmy, or Chris. But they were all there. And it was fun.

Lastly, I'd like to apologize to the folks on Southwest flight 1725 from Nashville to Austin. The first 15 minutes involved some writhing, screaming, and a diaper that smelled enough to prompt a flight attendant to offer me a blanket so I could "go ahead and go to the back of the plane to change my son's diaper."

Jack Reminisces About Days Gone By, When He Was 24" Tall

This is the last picture of Jack (or anyone, for that matter) in a cage, I swear.

Jack started waving today and has been walking a lot more. Had to buy more bandaids today for his knees. Still eats like a brown bear with a tape worm.

Bones gets her lampshade off tomorrow.

Jack and I are off to Nashville Tuesday morning for some good times with Cousin John.

As Promised...

Solitary Confinement

Although it appears as though Jack is contemplating a day of wrong choices, he actually took Bones' old crate over as his own personal fort. He crawled in and out of that thing for about 30 minutes today, having a blast.
Bones, on the other hand...is not as pleased with her situation. She had ACL surgery yesterday and needs to be crated for 6 weeks. She gets the collar off in two (I think that's bothering her more than the crate). It's not a fun situation for any of us (except Jack doesn't seem to mind), but she has been limping for months and once she recovers from the surgery she'll be able to run again. I'd say that makes it all worthwhile. I tried to tell her that, but she just stared at me as if she doesn't speak English.
Click here to watch a video of Jack playing in his new fort.
(I'll try to get a picture of Todd in a crate for the next post.)

First Trip to the Zoo

Omaha

The last part of our monstrous journey was to Omaha for Jeff's wedding reception. Due to a dress malfunction minutes before reception departure, my mind was not focused on bringing my camera. Thus the complete lack of pictures of the event (or any aunts and uncles, for that matter). Jack had a couple of "firsts" here, too...boating and the zoo. He wasn't a huge fan of the life jacket, but otherwise good times were had. The horse (or giraffe?) Jack is pushing was Todd's when he was a youngen (circa 1973).

Samara

The next leg of our journey was visiting Kari, Dan & Samara in Madison. We're pretty sure Jack impressed Samara with his belly button. Only time will tell.

Let's see...where was I...

Trucks

Wisconsin

Jack and I started our 12-day travel extravaganza in Wisconsin. He had quite a few "firsts" take place there...stayed the night with Nanny and Grampy (first time without either me or Todd), took some unassisted steps, and finally ate real-live bananas and peas. All in all, quite a successfull trip.
