SOMEBODY'S got to do it

Saturday at the Farmers Market

This morning we met our neighbors at the Farmers Market. Jack had a blast, Lucy fell asleep. I got a picture of Jack's face paint during the minute and a half that he kept it on. I was actually surprised he got it in the first place--clowns and anyone like a clown usually freak him out (me too). We stayed about 30 minutes too long, unfortunately, because after he fell asleep in the car for ten minutes, the monster that lies beneath the boy named Jack was unleashed. When I finally got him in bed for his nap, we had a discussion about Grouchy Jack. Lately when I ask Grouchy Jack to go away and Fun Jack to come back, Jack tells me that he puts Grouchy Jack (we sometimes mix it up and call this character Crabby Jack...keeps the story suspenseful) in the wipes container and locks it up so Grouchy Jack can't get out. As I was trying to slowly retreat from his room so he could start his aforementioned nap, Jack was telling me not to change Lucy's diaper because then I would have to open up the wipes and then Grouchy Jack would escape. As I was saying "okay," I closed the door and I heard him tell me "to be careful." A couple minutes later I heard him crying his eyes out. I went in there and he had tears dripping down his face. When I asked him what was wrong he told me that I didn't listen to him telling me to be careful not to let Grouchy Jack out of the wipes container if I happened to change Lucy's diaper. Wow. That's how tired he was. I actually had to wake him up three and a half hours later.

We will go back to the Farmers Market, but I think we'll leave a little earlier next time.

He tells it like it is

For the eye-fixing-process, Jack now needs to wear a patch for at least an hour a day. Yesterday he had it on in the car and fell asleep he whole time. When we got home I explained to him at length that it didn't count as wearing it when he was asleep and that he needed to keep wearing it. I was fully expecting an outburst, but he simply said, "Okay, Bossy Pants."
