Anything to delay bedtime
As per her nightly ritual, Lucy cannot simply go to bed at bedtime. Usually she wanders out and needs something...or she has to go to the bathroom, or she needs another hug, etc. Tonight I was cooking (and she was supposed to be in bed). I heard her calling for me and I told her I was not going in her room anymore. She said something about being stuck, so I went in there and she was sitting cross-legged on top of her dresser in the dark.
Jackisms in Omaha
Jack and Papa were playing on the slot machines in Papa's basement and Papa told Jack to rub the Indian's head for good luck. Jack said, "Native American is the proper name for that."
Kelly invited Jack and Lucy to come to one of her friend's 4-year-old daughter's birthday party at a bouncy house place. When we were getting ready to go, Jack said, "I'm not going to have pizza and cake; I'm just going for the inflatables."
On the drive home, Lucy started having a meltdown about 13 hours in because she couldn't find her McDonald's toy. She would not stop crying about it, and finally Jack said, "Lucy! Do you want to DIE? You are distracting the driver and we could get in an accident! It's a matter of LIFE!"

Omaha
Just got back from our summer trip to Omaha. Spent a lot of time with Danny, Kelly, Jeff, Erika, and all the cousins too...just didn't have my camera at the ready (I'll wait to steal some pics off of their blogs). Other than Jack's two barfing episodes on the drive up, we had a great visit. And Lucy hit the jackpot on one of Papa's (seven) slot machines!
Annual Neighborhood Race
Olivia beat Jack this year...And for the "4 and Unders," Lucy came in 3rd (out of four runners...). We couldn't be more proud.

Jack and Lucy-isms
Jack and Lucy were sleeping in his room together the other night and Lucy was being a bit on the "annoying side," shall we say. Jack said, "Lucy, no whining allowed in here. In fact, you're lucky to even be in here, because the sign on the door says 'Jack's parking only.'"
As we were getting ready to leave to go to the Salt Lick with Danny and Kelly, Lucy walked out of her room and said, "Oh my GOSH. Not again. Uncle Danny's in the bathroom."

Danny and Kelly get crazay in Austin
Danny and Kelly packed up the kids and came to Austin. We went to Sea World for a day, where a couple of the pictures were taken--Lucy playing with Evan (or Cole, I can't really tell...), and Jack and Cole getting ready to feed some dolphins. The top picture (of Kelly breastfeeding Evan--not really, and not that there's anything wrong with that...) was taken at Salt Lick. Mmm mmm good.
San Antonio
We met my old friends Jen and Ryan in San Antonio for a weekend. Should have gotten a picture of THEM...(didn't bring my camera, as usual). Lucy was really into the Alamo.
Six
Happy Birthday, Jackarumpo. You've grown into such a sweet, smart kid. You just finished kindergarten, which I think you really enjoyed (even though you said that kindergarten is boring because "all you do is sit on the carpet and learn stuff"). You love to run, ride your bike, play with your friends, swim at the pool, watch cartoons, and play on the computer. Lately you've been saying "actually" and "in fact" a lot. Many things you say are quite hilarious. You can get frustrated pretty easily, but when you have fun, you REALLY HAVE FUN. And no matter what, you always give me the biggest hugs. I don't know what I'd do without you in my life, Bud. You are my Special Jack. xoxo Mom
